What are relics?

Relics are physical connections to the mysteries of God’s grace. They are parts of the saints or items relating to the saints.

God continues to use his saints as instruments of grace for the salvation of the world, since the saints are alive in heaven and intercede on our behalf.

How do we venerate relics?

To show reverence for relics we kneel for a blessing, kiss the relic, touch it, or make the sign of the cross.

We can also touch our sacramentals (rosaries, scapulars, wedding rings) to relics as a remembrance of the saints.
